Recently Emergency Doctors of Hospitals in UK  face hard times as doctors see huge increase in number of men admitted for a VERY personal problem of Priapism which is a persistent and often painful erection that lasts for several hours.
The erection is not necessarily related to sexual stimulation or excitement, and does not subside after ejaculation (when semen is released from the penis). The erection lasts longer than four hours. During this time, the shaft of the penis is rigid and inflexible, but the head of the penis (the glans) is usually soft. The penis is also usually painful or tender.
As reported by The Daily Mail Online,A record number of men went to hospital this year with erections that wouldn't go down. Some 346 suffered priapism, a 51 per cent rise from last year, official figures show.
The condition where blood gets trapped in the penis is often brought on by drugs such as Viagra, cocaine, cannabis and crystal meth.Recently more youths and middle aged persons are taking such drugs in different personal and public parties to increase their libido and want long erection of penis for sexual pleasure to delay their ejaculation.
The trend is rising globally and in India too use of such drugs have increased in middle and high social strata but such incidences of warning for use of such drugs. As  Doctors have to drain blood to prevent permanent damage to the penis as most of time simple using antidote donot work and it is very bad emergency as condition is painful on one hand and shameful on social ground and mostly senior doctors relieving such emergency are often not available.
Dr Geoff Hacket, former chief of the British Society of Sexual Medicine, told The Sun: 'The risk as a result of Viagra alone is almost non–existent.'But as the drugs become cheaper, there is a chance people are more likely to exceed the recommended dose.'
