AYURVEDIC MEDICINES are sold by advertisement in TV, Print & Social Media as most safe herbal medicines without any side effects .Such False and Illegal claim recently  made a retired IAS officer and secretary, revenue appeals, G J Champaneri   crtically ill in ICU diagnosed as Lead Toxicity due to taking of Ayurvedic anti diabetic medicines.

  Retired NIOH clinical toxicologist Dr Aruna Dewan who treated this officer, now director of Center For Education Awareness and Research On Chemicals and Health says she is getting significant number of lead poisoning cases -mostly triggered by people popping `safe ayurvedic' drugs. Dewan put Champaneri on a treatment of an oralchelating agent D-penicillamine, one of the most preferred medicines for lead detoxification and a rarely available drug. De wan said, "There is a strong need for stringent quality control measures to be in place for ayurvedic medicines." "I recommend people who are taking ayurvedic medicines should get them tested in a government accredited food and drug laboratory for metal traces," she said.

Leading gastroenterologist Dr Nilay Mehta said that lead poisoning due to ayurvedic medications with heavy metals, especially those used for treating diabetes is an alarming issue. He cited the case of a Muslim businessman from Rajkot who was brought to him with convulsions, severe jaundice and altered sensorium wherein he was not able to recognize his family members.

      Therefore,Ayurvedic Medicines, if not prepared as prescribed in rasa shastras can, in fact, turn deadly with metals like lead or mercury.Government of India under Ayush Ministry has constituted a body who will check all such illegal advertisements run on National Tv channel for whole night or in news papers or social media claiming treatment for all rare diseases of Heart,Joint pain,Loss of memory,Cure of bronchitis, asthma, Diabetes,cancers,obesity,Thyroid,Kidney,short height,Black color,rare skin & veneral diseases and infertility etc or what not with no side effect and result in few days or weeks.But till today Ayush Governing body is sleeping and advertisements are continued as usual.

         Delhi Medical Council and MCI has warned Allopathic member doctors not to write any Ayurvedic or homeopathic or any other Ayush medicines as LIV 52,Septilin,arnica etc otherwise a fine upto Rs.50000 or three month jail punishment may be inflicted.As stated repeatedly  by Supreme court and many High Courts,Same is true for Ayush Doctors who can not to write any modern medicines and if doing so then they will be called "quack" but in whole Delhi NCR and all most in so many state capitals,cities and villages  all over country ,Ayurvedic doctors are posted as consultant in emergency,outdoor and in ICU or as resident Doctors in middle or even higher medical centres and hospitals even owned by a cabinet Minister.Most Ayush doctors write only modern medicines and have opened many clinics and hospitals and few Ayush and Alternate medicines Medical colleges doing all unethical works and running all courses and distributing not only bachelor but post graduate degrees as quacks But neither health nor general administration takes care of them or vibrant media report these quackery.

    Most of Ayush doctors acquire admission in such Ayush colleges without any competitative examinations but buy it on high fee and capitation.Most do it as they know that in INDIA due to lax and corrupt administration and politicians ,they will able to practice as modern medicine doctors .For them,Strict admission and examination methodology and rotatary internship or post degree residency as practised for Modern Medicine  is not followed except in few premier institutes. Due to their illegal & quack practice of modern medicine So most of Modern Medicine Doctor face tough competition to survive as Practiitioner or getting job in private sector.Even Central and State Government,knowing fully their incompetency and their standard efficacy in Modern days scientific clinical researches,just to gain public sampathy and cheap popularity,has posted these Ayush doctor at par with Modern medicines doctors in PHC,Sub division,Block,District or superspeciality Hospitals at state capital or in ministry and many draw more salary and frebbies but they  still afraid of practising their pathy and wite modern medicines behind the curtain.Even Central Government is pushing MCI to bring new law to convert these AYUSH DOCTORS to be modern medicine MBBS doctors by adding a mere training of few months to correct poor  DOCTOR POPULATION RATIO but the fact remain that these Politicians and Bureaucrats never want to take treatment from these Doctors personally with Ayush therapy.
