The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has developed evidence-based treatment guidelines “Treatment Guidelines for Antimicrobial Use in Common Syndromes 2017” for treatment of common infections based on ICMR Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance Network (AMRSN) data as part of its Antimicrobial Stewardship Program. These guidelines are available on ICMR website. The 10 common syndromes include: 1. Community-onset acute undifferentiated fever in adults 2. Antibiotic-associated diarrhea 3. Infections in bone marrow transplant settings 4. Device-associated infections 5. immune-compromised hosts and solid organ transplant recipient 6. Infections in obstetrics and gynecology 7. Principles of initial empirical antimicrobial therapy in patients with severe sepsis and septic shock in ICUs 8. Prophylaxis and treatment of surgical site infections 9. Upper respiratory tract infections 10. Urinary tract infections
